Accessing and storing cryptocurrencies can be done through multiple tools. Most users may opt for a hardware wallet to gain extra security. However, there are plenty of crypto Chrome extension wallets on the market, all of which help users store their assets securely.

Trust Wallet (Multi-chain)

Many crypto enthusiasts are familiar with Trust Wallet, an ecosystem that provides a traditional software wallet and crypto Chrome extension wallet. The latter was introduced several years ago and provides multi-chain support to help users send, receive, and store various digital assets. In addition, the Trust Wallet Chrome extension is also used to interact with decentralized applications (dApps), providing access to the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Under the hood, Trust Wallet supports assets across several dozen blockchains, all of which are EVM-compatible. Users can download the Chrome browser extension wallet from the Google Chrome Store. That also works for the Brave browser, which is based on Chromium. Users must create a password and secret phrase to set up their wallet and back up these details securely. It is also possible to import an existing Trust Wallet by typing the Secret Phrase into the appropriate section.

SafePal (Multi-chain)

The SafePal crypto wallet ecosystem spans numerous solutions, including a hardware wallet, a native desktop app, and a Chrome extension. With the extension, anyone can turn their Chrome/Brave browser into a crypto wallet with multi-chain capabilities. SafePal was founded in 2018 and has gained a solid reputation since its inception. Wallets are considered a gateway into Web3, and securely managing digital assets is essential.

With the Chrome plugin, users can create or import multiple seed phrases. They can also access decentralized applications across several dozen chains and networks. The built-in Swap and Bridge solutions can move crypto between different chains. Like Trust Wallet, SafePal is compatible with EVM-compatible chains, and users can import existing wallets from MetaMask, Trust Wallet, and other WalletConnect applications.

MetaMask (Multi-chain)

The MetaMask Chrome browser extension is the most popular browser-based crypto wallet solution on the market. It is used by millions of people and makes it easy to store, send, and receive cryptocurrencies across all major networks. Although it initially focused on the Ethereum network, users can tap MetaMask for all popular blockchains. That has also allowed the wallet solution to become a crucial gateway into the world of decentralized applications.

The mobile application for MetaMask works similarly to the Chrome extension, enabling a unified user experience. Moreover, users can synchronize the extension and the mobile app anytime. Those who have a hardware wallet can connect it to MetaMask to use their cold storage assets through a more convenient wallet solution.

Nami (Cardano)

Although some people may not be familiar with Nami, it is a powerful Chrome extension wallet for the Cardano ecosystem. It supports multiple assets, including everything built on Cardano's blockchain technology stack. In addition, Nami enables users to explore crucial ecosystem functionality, including smart contract interaction, managing delegations, and ADA staking. There's also native integration with hardware wallets like Trezor and Ledger.

It is worth noting Nami does not have a companion app for mobile, although that is in development. Until that releases, users can tap this browser extension in Brave, Chrome, and Edge. Overall, it has a very simple user interface anyone can get accustomed to, regardless of one's previous knowledge of cryptocurrency and blockchain.

A curious feature is how users can set usernames for every specific wallet, allowing for more personalization options.

Phantom (Solana)

Like Nami, Phantom is a powerful Chrome extension wallet, but one that isn't designed for the Ethereum ecosystem. It is tailored toward Solana, another blockchain with various assets, NFTs, and decentralized applications. Users can install Phantom in Chrome, Brave, Edge, and Firefox to buy, sell, send, receive, store, and swap tokens. Its native NFT support makes it akin to MetaMask for Ethereum, as Solana has noted some initial momentum in the non-fungible token industry.

Like other Chrome extension wallets, Phantom supports hardware wallets, including Ledger. When creating a wallet, users will need to set up a password and a recovery phrase, enabling the wallet to be imported into other solutions if necessary.
